Pattaya is 2 hours south of Bangkok on the eastern Gulf Coast of Thailand. It is known mostly for being a party city with its numerous go go and beer bars. It’s fascinating to stroll through the city at night. It’s full of restaurants and live music. I’ve never heard “Hotel California” covered so many times in one night. It’s a little cooler and less humid here than Bangkok, being on the ocean.
There are lots of carts selling fresh cut fruit and pad Thai for a very affordable rate. It’s easy to find someone selling coconuts to drink from too.
A must see destination in Pattaya is the Sanctuary of Truth. It is a religious construction sculpted entirely from wood with images of both Hindu and Buddhist religions. The temple is huge. It’s 105 meters tall overlooking the ocean. The detail that went into the wooden sculpture is unrivaled by almost any other site i’ve been to. This place is truly magnificent.
After you get back from the Sanctuary of Truth you might want to take a stroll along the beach and take in a sunset. Get some of those tropical vibes.
